Apprentice levy what does your umbrella charge you?

I believe the apprentice levy is based upon umbrella company turnover so varies.

Shall we compare what we pay? I'll start the ball rolling.

    Cloud9 - 0.5% of gross pay

It shouldn't vary at all - if the turnover is over £3m (which any decent Umbrella should be) then it's 0.5% of gross pay.

Anyone charging the contractor more than that is basically increasing their margin via stealth.

To be pedantic, it's not turnover - it's the payroll bill. If that's over £3m then the company hands over 0.5% as the levy; if it's not then they don't, regardless of the total turnover.

I would say accurate rather than pedantic. My bad - cheers.
