Going on holiday and we know the place has a TV with HDMI, but no DVD player and the channels are rubbish. We can't rely on the TV having a USB socket that will play any format we might use, and we don't want to lug a laptop with us just for watching the odd show. But we do have both an iPad and a Nook so I wondered if it's easy to buy a cable which will "just work" and transfer sound and video to the TV? Or if you have to comb the web for the right type of cable, etc, etc.
The Nook has the advantage that it has microSD for storing stuff on, but it uses a proprietary cable (I thought only Apple did that these days!)
