The former are giving a discount, allegedly until end of May. WDYT?

I use VMware Fusion but I've got Parallels too (got it cheap in a bundle). I find both more responsive than VirtualBox.Originally posted by mickey View PostThe former are giving a discount, allegedly until end of May. WDYT? -
Recently I've stood up a couple of Win Serv 2008 R2 boxes in VMWare (Player). They take an age to suspend to disk. VirtBox does it in a fraction of the time.Originally posted by Bunk View PostI use VMware Fusion but I've got Parallels too (got it cheap in a bundle). I find both more responsive than VirtualBox.
I would have to say in terms of bring up and tear down, VirtBox has been many streets ahead.Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.Comment

On windows virtbox is great. On mac its a pile of tulip. Go for parallels but remember version 9 will be out later this year which is why v8 will be going cheap.merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment

I bought a discounted Parallels for £35 or so. I think it's amazing.
I posted a comparison review between VMWare, Parallels and VB a while back that showed while all 3 were pretty close in some areas, and VM/Parallels were close in all areas, VB was miles behind in certain types of things (like graphics).

These offers are frequent, so don't sweat - I guess the marketing worksOriginally posted by mickey View PostThe former are giving a discount, allegedly until end of May. WDYT?
If it's for a Mac, it should be Parallels vs VMWare Fusion.
I'd choose VMware if I were already using their other products, if not Parallels has, for example slightly better GPU, 3D support performance and is in general more consumer oriented.Comment

And every time Parallels come up with an upgraded product you cough up a brand new fee?Originally posted by yasockie View PostThese offers are frequent, so don't sweat - I guess the marketing works
