    Touch Screen Friendly Office 2013

    BBC News - Microsoft gives Office a 2013 touch-up

Microsoft has unveiled a touch-ready version of Office, the latest version of the company's market-leading productivity software suite.
I assume this is gearing up for Windows 8 et al, but do you think its MS or APPLE that is keeping Office off the iPad? Until they become a content creation tool rather than just a device for consumption I won't be splashing out on a tablet any time soon, but I assume that all will be changing with Windows 8 tablets

There are plenty of Notepad type apps for funny enough typing up notes, but I want to be able to edit a spreadsheet, create proper word documents etc. I suppose I am just spoilt by having a very decent small form factor laptop that I do all the stuff most people would do on a tablet

My point is that OneNote is part of the office suite and is possibly the first foot in for MS Office into the iPad/Phone and Android market

I know there are plenty of note taking apps but OneNote is by far the best. Especially when combined with their desktop counter parts.

I know there was talk back in Feb that someone had a hands on with Office for iPad but can't see it coming off as it could be key to Redmond's tablet as a USP

There are more fully-blown iPad office type apps so I think it's MS' decision, not any kind of blocking by Apple... Apple sell hardware so if MS can make the iPad popular amongst Windows users, that's only good for Apple.

Anybody use CloudOn | brings you Microsoft Office(R) on the iPad ? Or has an iPad, a dropbox account and is bored enough to have a play to see what the deal is?

It depends if this is going to be a full blown excel or a cut down version. If it's not got VBA etc per the 2008 mac versions then I may as well stick with Numbers on the iPad which is a perfectly adequate spreadsheet app on the move.

I think CloudOn is the service where you're effectively accessing Office running on a remote Windows box through a specialised VNC/RDP connection... if so you get full access.

From what I have read its full, but if it is how you describe I can't see MS being too happy and pulling it on licensing grounds.
