Tablets & Visio / Diagramming tools

I'm thinking of getting a tablet so that I can work with something like visio and also take written notes and then export them to MS office formats for tidying up and further work. It would need to be able to do this via USB / pulling the memory card out or similar, over the air isn't an option for various reasons. I'm considering a bona-fide tablet PC but I'm already carrying a desktop replacement so I'd rather have something like an iPad / android if the apps are there to do what I need it to do.

    I welcome your suggestions.

I'm not sure if there is anything Android which is compatible with Visio - a search on the Google Play store doesn't bring much back. There are diagramming tools, but nothing that says that it's compatible.

If you want something for drawing type work rather than pure compatibility, then you might want to look at a Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch which is not an iPad or Android competitor, but is great for what it is designed for.

There's a "discussion" about Visio for iPad on the Apple website, where the answer is in Steve Jobs style - can you get microsoft visio for ipad2 or something very similar? - Apple Store (UK)

I use a bamboo touch for all my visio work at home. I tend to just scribble rough drafts on my ipad then convert them into real visio diagrams at home. I think a 10 inch touch screen is too small for visio work personally.

I would highly recommend checking out Lucidchart. I have both an iPad 2 and a Nexus (Android) and have been very impressed with its diagramming capabilities. As far as I know, it's the only tablet-compatible app that imports and exports Visio files. Here is some information about the w ww.lucidchart.com/pages/tour/visio_ipad_app" Visio iPad compatibility.

I use Omnigraffle for the iPad but I find using Note Taker HD with a stylus just as good. You can probably get Note Taker HD for Android.

Bamboo Paper for doodling on calls and the occasional diagram to explain something simple to an idiot management
Note taker HD for all note taking

Great feature of note taker is you can output to pdfs and stick in dropbox. You can also open pdfs and scribble all over them.

Got the paid version of both.
