It's Acer, which means if it breaks, you're screwed. Impossible to get fixed ANYWHERE.

Same spec toshiba except 4x the RAM, a DVDRAM and 50 quid more:

And they have a shop so you can go and kick them in if it breaks. I have the same model with a Radeon X600SE in it and it cost £900!

Isn't Acer PC world's own brand? Not sure where I heard it though.

Acer is a big company, not part of pcworld, dsg or similar. At one point they made machines for ibm.

Yes - I had one and it broke. I had to take them to small claims to get the motherboard replaced after it failed after 2 days and they refused to RMA it at the reseller (because they could never get anything out of Acer) and Acer themselves.

They are absolutely crap build quality as well.
