5 month old and my gfx dies!!!! Grrr!!!

Bought an Asus Nvidia 570 GTX last September and yesterday evening it crackled and threw out a plume of smoke from inside the case.

Swapped in my old 470 GTX and it worked fine, which was a relief as I had no desire to whip the motherboard out.

RMA raised with Scan, now for the Customer Service experience. No problems years ago when I had to return a motherboard, hopefully its as fast this time around.
Never has a man been heard to say on his death bed that he wishes he'd spent more time in the office.

My NVIDIA graphics card packed up not so long ago. Replaced it with an ASUS 6770 HD (ATI) and it seems happy enough. All I now need is a decent 3D monitor to go with it.

Hope you get your MB sorted out.

MB was fine, It was the Nvidia graphics that went up in smoke.

That's the second thread on busted GFX cards this week (EO was the other one I think)

Does your case have adequate air circulation? Do you vacuum for dust? Any OC?
It's about time I changed this sig...

Ventilation is fine, Coolermaster HAF 932 case with 3 x 120mm fans plus liquid cooling on CPU.

          Never OC'd anything.

So I sent the card back to the supplier.

It turns out that they no longer supply the card, and it is no longer available.

They have returned it to their supplier for repair or replacement.

Would you accept a repair? I'm not keen.
Interested to see what is offered as a replacement, if that is the route they take.
Also if at the end of this rigmarole they can't replace or repair and give me a credit , I only get a proportional credit considering the time I have used it.

So now the RMA process has been extended from the 7-10 days out to potentially a further 28 days.

I always thought scan was good. I might have to look at overclockers for my next order.

Have been ordering stuff from them for 10 years and this is the first thing I have been really naffed of about something.

Just give me a 590 for crying out loud.

Likewise probably 15 years and never a problem. However if social media (and this is social media) reports a problem it could change people's perceptions the next time they think about making a big order.

Get the GTX680 and sell your old one on ebay when it comes back, that's what I'm doing anyway
