    Free SMTP Server Software

    As the title says really.

    I need recommendations for a SMTP server for testing SMTP connections from SSIS.
    Will need to be able to connect using windows or no authentication

            Sendmail is the unix mta of choice, just about standard on any flavour. It's not for the faint of heart tho, and needs a fair bit of config, the old sendmail.cf which you are not supposed to edit but everyone does. It's free though and there's prolly a windows version too.

              Nope, always used Exhange as the target, they both look simple though.

                  Probably not relevant in a sandboxed environment but if it's public facing, a poorly configured SMTP server can be a nightmare, I did one once and unwittingly it was an open relay, ended up with 6 million mis-deliveries, God knows how many went through delivered properly....

                    We used to use Hamster for quick testing of products that needed to connect to an SMTP server.
                    Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.
