I've been tempted, but I'm put off by the 18 month minimum contract. They say I'd be able to get 34Mb/7Mb, but as I get 18Mb/1Mb now, for what I use it for it's only the upload I'm really going to notice.

It's the length of the line that counts, and the length of the line is much shorter. It may still be the weak link, but effectively they've upgraded the weak link.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Well for me it's a con, they advertise it as 'unlimited' when it isn't. Remember upload counts toward the 300GB limit too.

I have Sky Go/Anytime and it eats bandwidth especially when watching Cricket! I'm with Be at the moment and whilst there is a FUP, it's never enforced, so I'm never worried about the clock or being stuffed down a 1mb pipe for the rest of the month, like BT Infinity do.

The Fibre cab is about 200 yards from me, still not tempted tho, I get 21mb now with Be, 1mb up.

If they did remove the FUP and throttling, I might be tempted...

Do they not offer an overuse charge of say 10p pre gig if you go over the limit? I wouldn't mind paying a reasonable extra charge to ensure the speeds remain the same, if I ever needed that much bandwidth.

If they don't offer anything like that then they must be worried about contention and saturation if all the neighbourhood were to sign up to Infinity, and expect the same performance as they may get being first on the block.
Feist - 1234. One camera, one take, no editing. Superb. How they did it

From a bit of research you can have a 40Gb limit, or the unlimited option with throttling once you reach a fair-use 300Gb. Not sure if the limited 40Gb version is still around though.

Personally, 300Gb is pretty massive coming from 20-40Gb - and at that point they don't limit you but just slow it down. Does anyone know how much they throttle it - to regular broadband speed? Dialup speed?

300gb sounds a lot but if you were to stream a true HD movie with a bitrate comparable to blu-ray, you would only get around 6 to 10 movies before they throttled you.

Somehow can't see proper 1080p HD movie/TV streaming for the masses just yet.

True, but you ain't going to get fiber to all places any time soon: for many people distance to cabinet on street is much shorter than to exchange.

Zen will give you 500GB on a 12 month contract. But do watch out if you intend to move house in those 12 months as it is non transferrable and non refundable.

                    It's £65 a month though.

Is that taking into account the better compression available in modern codecs - e.g how a DVD is about 4Gb but you can get the same quality for a fraction of the size with a cutting-edge codec?
