Annoying websites that mess up back button

So many sites where you click back and find yourself still on the same page. Usually if you go click,click,click,click...
it works but it's so annoying. Any know how this happens or why people do it?

No reason for asking, just curious (and annoyed!)

using js incorrectly or submitting forms etc, rather than passing HTTP headers correctly.
There's nothing wrong with JS or even AJAX, pppl just don't know how and when to use it.

Fecking anoying isnt it? Finding when you use google and you click on a link to go to the relevant web page, you're instead directed to another web page such as city breaks or the like!

I regularly run malwarebytes and avira premium and no redirectors found so assume its either deliberate by google or the page request is being intercepted.

Amend your hosts file (GIYF) and switch to Chrome it makes life much more bearable.

Some websites do this to "force" you to stay forever on their web page. They get insulted if you try to go back. So once you are on a page via a search engine, they do a http POST or a simple javascript redirect so that one simple "back" would still send you back to where you were.

I use FireFox and just right click on the back button and select where I want to go back to.

Come to think of it IE9 does that too.
