    Woohoo. Memory upgrade

Just upgraded from 2GB to 6GB, in preparation to moving to Windows 7 64bit. (For some heavy duty processing) Still running XP 32bit, (so only 4GB being used), and it's already going like stink!

What kind of heavy duty processing do you do that you need 6GB for?

My last desktop machine that I bought came with 8GB RAM, which means multiple VMs running at the same time Apart from that, I find that I don't need too much RAM to keep the torrent of porn downloading.....
If you have to add a , it isn't funny. HTH. LOL.

Yep, mine turned quite nippy when I went from 1 to 3GB.

(the original 1GB was in fact 2x512MB, so I'll need to buy 2 strips and replace both for only 1GB of extra memory. Not sure it's worth it...)

Need? What do you mean need?

        Video editing and multiple VMs.

Ah, I forgot video editing from my list of things I use the memory for. The one thing that I kept Windows over Linux for.

Windows 7 does a pretty good job of using the extra RAM for cache. Looking at it on my 4GB Win7 x64 laptop, there's 1.2GB in use (which is mostly two Visual Studios), and 2.6GB "standby" in other words stuff it's decided you might want to use quickly (and that could save valuable seconds in unpacking and viewing that special interest torrent).

It does seem to work, and the machine is noticeably faster when it's been left on for a while, than when it first starts up. The complete opposite of XP in fact.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
