Right, I can get the HD2 or the Desire for roughly the same monthly amount it seems. Of course the desire will be pre-order for delivery a w/c 5th April on t-mobile.

Mmm, which to go for? A lot of internet reviews favour the Android based desire.

I think I will mull over it for a week or so.

If you are using an Android-based phone, then there are apps which you can download that will tether your phone to the PC. I use Easy Tether ($14.95, I think, free trial available, requires Windows or Mac) to tether mine.

Whether this is within the terms and conditions or not, I don't know (I suspect it isn't allowed by most companies) - the question really is how would the telecoms provider know that the data being transferred is from a PC rather than from surfing on the phone? My phone is out of contract anyway, so if they cut me off, meh.
If you have to add a , it isn't funny. HTH. LOL.

Did you find a reasonably priced way for it to replace your 3g dongle as a modem?
Actually even cooler, the HD2 has a Wifi Router function built in. Set your name and key, switch it on, connect to it using Wifi from your laptop and you have tinterweb.

I ran some speed tests using broadbandspeedchecker:

HTC HD2 (set as Wifi Router) on Vodafone: 1888Kbps down, 809Kbps up

Huawei Data Card (2 years old) on Vodafone: 1072Kbps down, 264Kbps up

TalkTalk Broadband over Ethernet:7096Kbps down, 835Kbps up

TalkTalk Broadband over Wifi: 7064Kbps down, 828Kbps up

stay away from the TP2 until its released with Andriod... Battery is crap, bluetooth when connected to the car causes v crap response and the phone just isnt anything special and i'm running it on winmo 6.5, generaly responsiveness is v crap to.

Had mine since July, had one replaced to try and solve the above and one because it just broke and the touch screen wouldn't respond.
I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!

Too late, I've had it for 2 weeks. No issues so far, battery isn't an issue as it spends most of its life plugged in for sync.

I Installed latest CoPilot nav software for £25 all in, fantastic solution.

                Oh dear

Co pilot is one the the worst sat nav systems I've come across.

I gave up using it, after missing turns and getting lost.

There's a reason it is so cheap.

Funny, it was top rated by Auto Express after testing several options.

The Tom Tom I had on my Tytn2 had junctions where there weren't any and would occassionally have me turn around on the motorway. They also wanted money for updates that CoPilot gives for free.

I think co pilot won on the value rather than function rating.
