Are there any decent broadband packages?

All sort of problems with our broadband, at peak times keeps dropping out and getting worse. They tell me there is nothing wrong their end but can't really see how a fault on our line/filters etc would pop up at peak times and cure itself at quiet times.

But the net is just full of complaints about every provider so not sure who to try. It's a village, no cable. Any reccomendations?

Move back to town / city close to an exchange and get Be.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

We live in a rural area, long loop length, very poor S/N ratio on the line. Very slow and occaisionally troublesome ADSL connection. Nothing we can do about it except to move house. However, I can recommend VISPA, they are a smallish ISP and you get to speak with people (in the UK, not India) who will do all they can to help.

Not the cheapest, but I am told they are good:

        AAISP. (http://sod.ms)

There could be sufficient noise on the line to cause a problem. However, without knowing where you live, I can't make a suggestion that is guaranteed to be relevant to you. I've been with Virgin Media on their Cable Broadband and not had any major issues.

                DONT go with BT.

finally left them after several years and now with Sky. Much better more stable and faster service. No packet shaping either...
I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!

Not IDNET. I was with them for three years but when the system went down for two days I complained. Their response was: if I was not happy then go elsewhere.

Ta for latest comments. Having spent ages trying to sort neighbour's net & email problems I wouldn't touch BT with a bargepole.
