    Crowdsourcing SatNav

    Waze.

    Interesting use of crowdsourcing.

Look, I don't even understand what Twitter is all about, so croudsourcing? No chance.

It something to allow spotty pubescent teens to meet and shag in cyberspace?

"If you like mapping, though, it's a great time to get involved and you'll have a ton of fun! "

If you do like mapping, why not try euthanasia too. An even quicker solution to crowds.

I can't see what it offers over OpenStreetMap, which has been going for quite a while longer and has very good coverage already.

Should it ever achieve a critical mass, which I doubt, it will offer a positive feedback loop for creating unpredictable traffic jams.

I modelled that 20 years ago. You need lots of negative feedback and historical analysis in the decision making to make this work well. Sadly, the Highways Agency have had sufficient data to do this for years, but Serco were too crap to even comprehend it, let alone develop it, when I spoke to the techies about it a few years ago.

(Why they haven't downloaded the OpenStreetMap database, I cannot imagine. You'd think they'd have a two-way feed.)
My all-time favourite Dilbert cartoon, this is: BTW, a Dumpster is a brand of skip, I think.
