as a home computer but not really for gaming just to surf and maybe stream stuff.. but wanna spend a lot since its on expenses therefore around 400-500pounds

Dont buy a Sony Vaio.

Bought 2 in recent years one for each of me kids.
Both broke just after the guarantee ran out.
Weeks of grief etc to get them fixed.
Would not ever buy one again.

On a positive note: the contractor that sits next to me had a fault on his Dell the other day, Dell sent someone round to fix it later in the afternoon. Hows that for service??

Ive never like Dells either personally.

Have a HP at the moment, (my 3rd in 4 years) none of these have ever gone wrong, so they would get my vote. They also have a load of special offers on at the moment:

Very happy with the Samsung R522 I bought in July. Missed the eligibility for a free Win 7 upgrade by a few days though.

You have to pay extra for the onsite engineer (warranty and accidental) but as my butter fingers will testify its worth it and its enough to keep me buying Dell equipment.
I don't want to have to either send my laptop off for repair or take it back to the shop and then wait x days for it to come back (with a bill). The dell guys always come with enough spares to replace anything that might have also broken.

How much extra is the on site for 1 laptop approximately??

The kids may get a Dell each for Christmas if they tidy their rooms before then.
