Vmware on a iMAC running OSX?

I work with VMware and want to learn more at home but only have an iMac at home. Can i run a free download of VMware on OSX and install virtual windows desktops and servers or do i need to install bootcamp and windows XP/Server then VMWAre?

You can run VM on an iMAC, easily. I don't think it's free though.

VMware Fusion - it's not free, but it's cheap.

Bear in mind that you are probably wanting to get to know VMware ESX. I think you are talking about VMware workstation which is a completely different kettle of fish. You can install ESX on VMware workstation, here is a link on how to do that

          http://www.virtualization.info/2007/...on-vmware.html

the www.xtravirt.com site has a document on how to install vSPhere 4 on VMware workstation but I cant find the link - I'll let you google it.
