    Visual Studio 3rd party tools

Does anyone have experience using Resharper or CodeRush? (or any similar tools)?

are they worth it? any recommendations?

I use resharper, well worth the modest layout I reckon.

i've used resharper for quite a few years. it used to be basic but good. then it extended it's functionality and got better. now it tries to do so much it has become a tad buggy and often gets corrupted, at least on my machines. i think jet/b ought to do what m/soft has [apparently] done viz: let the product essentially stand still and get a bit more stability and reliability in there.

Resharper is great, especially for making code super-neat in case anyone else is likely to be looking at it. I'd seriously miss it if somebody took it away. It gets its knickers in a twist sometimes, but deleting the working folder and reopening VS always sorts it out.

I don't know if you're C++ or .net, but Visual Assist X (http://www.wholetomato.com/) is amazing especially for C++. Only thing is it's just a bit more pricey than I'm happy with. My trial ended and ever since I wish I had it, but haven't quite decided to splash out yet.

Never used Resharper, as it's .Net only. I tried Refactor! and it was horrible.

I am trying out the Resharper free trial just now, then will move onto Code rush.
