    Proxy sites

I think the work has brought in the same firewall that the Chinese state uses and I am now blocked from using quite a few sites that can get you through a dull day.

Does anyone know some good proxy sites that I can use to get to the outside world?

    Thanks

No I think most of the anonymizers were banned a few years ago. Anyway your web filter will probably block access to those sites as well.

You could setup something at home to proxy through via https. You can get Unix utilities (I can't remember the names - it was a long time since I've touched Unix) or you could setup a Citrix server at home with a CItrix Secure Gateway - unless the web filter was clever enough to detect ICA within https - I doubt it.

THen connect to your CItrix server and surf from there?? Or is that too much effort?

You think that the net nanny is that dumb?

The last time I did that I got: "illegal attempt to avoid site blocking using proxy" - and all I was doing was trying to translate something with google :-(

I'd be wary of doing anything like that - after all, the client has put them in there for a good reason.

WHS. Companies put web filters in place for a reason. There are ways around them but getting caught trying to circumvent them will most likely get you escorted from the building.

If you really can't live without your Facebook fix get a web enables PDA/Phone or a laptop and a 3g dongle and use that.

Ach, not to bothered about clientCo really, I am out of here in 2 weeks anyway, I usually never touch the web on a contract until I know that I am leaving then I get my boots filled with the stuff.

I will have a look at YourFreedom.
