Ideally Im after something that just looks like an extra drive on my computer, so i can edit/compare file differences with easily.

Was after something with a bit more friendly UI than a command line :-)

FileZilla seems to be an improvement on FTP Commander though.

          Thanks for the suggestions.

              Core FTP lite.

I don't like anything that says "zilla" in the name, after Go!zilla

I though it was possible to do this via 'Network Places' in Windows?

If you are after comparison and sync then maybe look at Beyond Compare available at: http://www.scootersoftware.com/

This is an absolutely superb application that i couldnt do without and (never tried this) you can select an FTP path as a folder source so assume it'd do what you want.

Start Windows Explorer. Type ftp://ftp.example.com/ into the Location bar (under the toolbar by default, IIRC). When prompted, enter your username and password. The site should appear under a new "Internet Explorer" section in the tree view at the left.

Not sure how well it works in terms of treating it as a network drive, but it does allow you to drag & drop to and from the FTP site.
