    You can disable the service from msconfig (Start -> Run -> msconfig), and to remove it fully try this.
    Where are we going? And what’s with this hand basket?

      It doesn't appear in msconfig, I only know about it because Comodo started complaining..

      It looks like it's going to take more than just believing google to get rid of it... grrr see here.

      here too: google can go F* themselves with their "Googleupdater.exe"

        Bizarre - I have it twice in my startup list in msconfig. Is it in your services list?

          It requires the "FORMAT C:" method of uninstall?
          Nope...that doesn't work.

          I tried it, and restarted the PC with a dos CLI to start the partition process and guess what ? It's still there !!!!
          Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

                Google Update is a Scheduled Task

                Look in Control Panel->Scheduled Tasks.

                You can disable it or delete it altogether.
