    ISP change

Thinking about changing ISP. I'm currently with Zen, but keep going over the monthly download limit now. I have no problems with zen (well, line speed ain't great), but thought I'd take a look at the market & see if I could get a better deal.

One of the cheapest, with unlimited download is Tiscali, although they don't appear to score great on customer satisfaction.

Another I'm considering is Newnet - cheaper than Zen, bigger monthly download limit, no traffic shaping.

    Anyone use\used Newnet or Tiscali?

Oh, my exchange has no LLU so that's ruled out other ISP's.

    Eclipse Internet

Not the cheapest but I have had no problems in over a year.

May life give you what you need, rather than what you want....

Thanks. I had a look at Eclipse last time I changed ISP's (went with Zen). The only reason I want to change now is cost, so this rules Eclipse out.

Remember that Tiscali have a "fair use policy" which means they will clobber your connection if they feel you're being "greedy", which if you're exceeding your current download limit may be an issue.

I recently switched to ADSL24 (an Entanet reseller) and I'm delighted with the package, and now I actually get close to the 8Mbps speed that Virgin never gave me despite my paying for it.

There are varipous packages but I'm on the "Office 45" ehich gives 45Gb peak time per month and 330Gb off-peak (!). It costs £25 + VAT per month (also there is no X months contract to sign). There is no "fair use" policy, you can just download at full tilt he whole time.

Not the cheapest, but excellent IMO.

Plus.net are okish. They do have download limits during the hours of 8am to midnight and they are supposed to traffic shape a bit but I get a fast connection of anything between 6 and 8 meg (I live out in the stix).

Dont know what your paying now so they may not be cheaper.

I wouldn't wish them on my worst enemy. They are inept and incompetent. <mod note>These are not the views of contractor uk ;o)</mod note>

Plusnet do business tarrifs that give you better contention on their internal network and no download limits, however you do pay a bit more.

I think I pay around £17.99 per month with zen, plus now an additional £1.50 for an additional gb.

Had a look at ADSL24 & it looks good. I would probably get away with being on the "Home 3" package (3GB peak\30GB off peak).

The one thing I spotted with newnet is that your upload bandwith also adds to your monthly limit, so I would probably be in a similar position as I am now. Although they are cheaper than zen.

Think I'll take a look at migrating to ADSL24, cheers!

Tiscali still cause enough issues to not recommend them! Again, with Eclipse
