    MP3 Players

Lost my Ipod and so am looking for a replacement.

It'll be used for music and moving docs/files about so need about +8Gb of space.

    Any happy or horror stories?

    TIA

    PL

I have a 4th (I think) generation IPod that I am pretty happy with. Why not go for something with much more storage than just the 8gb. If you rip at a the highest bit rate level for max quality it takes up way more space that the standard 128 bit rate so your 8gb disappears very quickly.

I rip at the highest bitrate available, but have a compressed copy for playing on my MP3 player - I use shrinkmytunes to do it.

My MP3 player died a while back and I decided to buy a multimedia player - the Archos 704. It's far more versatile than simply being a music player. The 704 is quite chunky with a 7" screen but you can get smaller models like the 604/605.

You can also connect it up to the TV and watch movies on the bigger screen, as well as record programmes onto it from the TV.

I absolutely cannot fault my iPod touch - it's frickin amazing.

Unfortunately you can't use it as a disk, so I've got an enormous cruzer for that - and for that money, you could buy two...

I also have a 5th gen ipod, which should be pretty cheap on ebay by now (that one's in the car most of the time though).

            Apologies PL.

I have always wondered why people would want to watch telly on a small handheld device like that. Is it really worth the time and effort to load stuff on? When do you get 90 min spare to sit and watch a movie on it?

Yesterday afternoon whilst running a search through some code - Ned Kelly, not bad, didn't need too much thought.

So you were at home then? Why not just watch it on the 40 inch LCD then?
