I HATE VISTA!!! Tearing hair out trying to think why sound options work in dev version of new prog but not in installed version. Windiff kept reporting the user options files were different but when I checked actual file the content was not as Windiff reported.
Aaaaaagh. It seems that Vista virtualises writes to program files directory so when you think you are writing to a file it is being stuck away somewhere else. When you think you are reading it back it has been lost!!
Anyone found way round this problem? What directory can one save a file to that is present in MS windows 98/2000/xp and Vista? Could make a subdirectory in C: just to hold one 20 byte text file but that seems naff.
Ta for any brill ideas.
