8GB model with 1GB RAM due end of November, so might be worth waiting for that to come out.

Buy a proper laptop/notebook you tightwad.

Check out the reviews on it. Its Linux, fast-booting, small and cute, light, and has everything you need built in. Fantastic piece of kit especially if you're travelling.

Shame. If it had a proper OS that wouldn't be a bad bit of kit for the price. Assuming you were seven years old of couse.

Why would I need something that looks like a 'real' computer?

I hate using laptop keyboard and mouse, so I always carry external ones. What I need is something that's a small as possible so that I can get the maximum other stuff in my carry on.

          This looks ideal

You can put XP on it, if you really want to.

There is some good stuff here about it, which tells you how to hook up your mobile etc. for internet access.

But where can you get one from? Dabs says 3-4 weeks

I got fed up carrying my Thinkpad T60p everywhere as it is a bit large so picked up a sub-notebook. The Asus F9S which is pretty good, dual core, 2gb, 160gb, camera and other bits and pieces. th eonly problem is that it only has a slot for Express cards so my UMTS/HSDPA PCMCIA card doesn't fit. got an USB adapter but I'll get an express one later this year. Got a nice little mouse as well: Samsung
