PC Trade/Wholesale prices for bying components

Hi, the office PC needs replacing which I will be building.
Has anyone any experience in obtaining trade prices with meaningful discount from say Amzon?
I have a Ingram Micro account, and can't find anything cheaper then on Amzon etc.

Amazon (not Amzon) is B2C. If you have checked ebuyer, etc, and Ingrams are cheaper, then stick with where you have an account.

I personally wouldn't buy PC components from Amazon.

I've used the likes of Scan, Overclockers, Quiet PC, Ebuyer, Novatech etc in the past to build a system.

You won't get any kind of meaningful discount if you're buying one or two PCs/components. Just work out what you want and then order the parts from the folks ladymuck suggested.

If you're looking at Apple gear, many places have corporate agreements with Apple to offer discounts of 3-7% iirc, or if you have kids in further education, you can typically get a fairly big saving. I suspect that's not what you're after though.

He's also going to be upset when he discovers that the margin on computer components is about the lowest for any retail category - basically unless you are buying 100 of something the discounts you get will be zilch and even after that it's only going to be 5-10% or so...

vip-computers.com are a trade supplier but they're not going to give you an account for a couple of PC's worth of bits.

Lots of negativity! What surprised me is amazon has some great prices, but their packaging is really bad.
I now have a scan biz account, ordered a case+motherboard (other bits were cheaper on AMZ). About £20 cheaper then private account, but I have free P+P on private account, so savings less.
I however had delivery problems, and the account manager I was given resolved it easier then if I was retail customer.

So you didn't actually want wholesale parts, you wanted a business account with a non Amazon retailer.
