MS Powerapps database

A power app has been developed. It was originally going to use sharepoint lists, but loading the data into sharepoint is too slow.
A suggestion was to get MS dataverse, but the pricing structure makes that a very expensive option.

The initial files are extracted from PowerBI as CSV. The app needs to read the files and the users will be updating fields from the app.

So, is there a way (without using dataverse) to work with large CSV files in Powerapps, or can anyone suggest a solution to the problem that won't cost $2k a month.

PS the pricing from M$ seems extortionate.

I know very little, but it seems Dataverse for Teams is included with users of Office 365. It's limited to 2GB or 1 million rows.

Firstly, check you licencing it's not $20 a user - it's $20 for the first user (that gives you the 10gb of space you need) and $5 (per user per app) for everyone else.

so that's $515 a month which isn't cheap but it ain't that bad.

It's also restricted to access within teams only and that means no ability to import data from elsewhere.

Technically you can view and edit non-teams dataverse data from within teams at no cost - which in theory means 1 $20 license would be enough but no-one is 100% sure of how long that will exist as it sits in a very weird no mans land..

Powerapp DBs are pretty pricey.

One option would be for the Powerapp to lookup the data in an Azure storage account. Either blob or table store.
I've worked with a guy who is extracting data from various tenants, using a logic app, and dumping the entire CSV data into a blob store. And then using logic apps to process the data, and PowerBI to visualise it.

WTFH needs users to update the records and that would require a premium license unless you use something within office (I.e. the sharepoint list that is both slow and crap)

yes as a database it’s expensive but as a rapid development tool you can’t beat it
