    I'm looking at getting an SSD for early '11 13" MBP - any recommendations ?

    Try OWC, they do upgrades that are fully compatible.

                    Any SATA 7mm SSD will do. What size do you need? Do you prefer value or performance more?
                    One of the fastest SATA ones nowadays are Samsung 850 Pro, but in my personal opinion, the likes of of Crucial and OWC are more reliable.
