That's the correct way in fact. Or so I was taught. Today I looked it up, and found this:Originally posted by mudskipper View PostI habitually put a double space after a full stop. But I'm trying to get over it.
One space or two after a full stop? - Emphasis
I had no idea it was co contentious. I just assumed that I was right and everyone else was wrong. For most things in life, that seems to be true, but apparently not so this time

I haven't read the article, but I was taught to use two spaces. But then that was from someone who used to use a manual typewriter when she learned to touch type. Now, apparently, it's one space, which I find difficult to consistently do.Originally posted by Platypus View PostThat's the correct way in fact. Or so I was taught. I've never heard of using two spaces anywhere, but then I am from the poverty stricken North East so we probably couldn't afford the extra spaces.Originally posted by TheFaQQer View PostI haven't read the article, but I was taught to use two spaces. I am working on it, though.I'm not even an atheist so much as I am an antitheist; I not only maintain that all religions are versions of the same untruth, but I hold that the influence of churches, and the effect of religious belief, is positively harmful. [Christopher Hitchens]Comment

2 spaces was definitely right in the old days but just as Word will add a space between paragraphs without you hitting Enter multiple times, it can handle sentences. THere's probably even a setting for it somewhere.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

If I inherit a document, or share it with someone, I invariably take over and instil my own formatting 'rules'.
Find, Replace all double spaces with single.
Left justify everything.
Replace all attempts to embolden with capitalisation with lower-case in bold.
Insert Page Breaks where they've just hit Return 28 times.
It often ends up with a bit of a ding-dong with someone who has opposing, but equally strong views on any of the above.Comment
