That's not actually any kind of an answer... Surprisingly.

Or are you bitching about the Coronavirus restrictions?

The tax cover covers you for previous years... given all tax years will be done and dusted before they're investigated and they have 2-6 years to do so depending on the investigation, I would keep your IPSE running for 2 years after your last tax year where you think you need cover, and possibly 6...

I agree about the accountants, but IPSE's reach is far wider than IR35 these days, so they will survive. QDOS appear to be doing quite well out of the new regime as well...

(In light of the budget ... IR35 etc)

Just testing the water as to what other members think.

Not relevant for people taking inside contracts, same applies for accountants

It depends rather. Do you expect to have to challenge an IR35 determination, or respond to HMRC chasing you for back taxes on the basis that you previous outside contract is now inside? How do you value the risk of your agency or your umbrella going bust? Are you eligible for jury service? How do you value the unconditional support for any kind of tax inquiry (there's more to life then IR35 after all)?

Any insurance is expensive until you need it. The IPSE Plus package makes economic sense, compared to many of the alternatives.

And the idiot changes announced in the budget are a failure of government, not of IPSE (or IoT, REC, ACEAW, FSB and a dozen other closely involved organisations).
