You have got some public or shared folders for them to share?

Just lets you change your sharing settings
or just type homegroup into the start menu

It auto-created me a homegroup when I installed, I didn't know to say "no", now I can't see how to remove it.

Turns out, my Win7 PC can see other PCs and access their shared directories. But while other PCs can see my Win7 PC, even though I turned on sharing, it just won't let me access

I couldn't see anything on the network when I got new Win 7 PC a few months back but managed to fix up it just fannying about with the settings tho. darned if I can remember exactly what I did. You don't want homegroups though, that's for all win 7 PCs only.

    my settings:-

control panel > network and internet > advanced sharing settings
    current profile:
    network discovery on
    file & printer sharing on
    public folder sharing on
    media streaming off
    file sharing 40-56 bit encryption
    password protected sharing off
use user accounts and passwords to connect to other computers

Plus in explorer you have to create some shared folders.

    Confused by Windows7 Homegroups/Networking

My win7 PC is connected to our router fine. But it is setup in some 'homegroup' and doesn't seem to be sharing the network with my other PCs (running XP). From the network control panel I can't find anything to set this up, clickuing anything that looks sensible takes me in a circle back to where I start.

    Anyone got any tips/links?

Working...
