LinkedIn spam - driving me mad

Why don't you just set your preferences to "don't email me" for your groups etc?

I think I get one a week (per group) & I've never been spammed.

Maybe you just need to remove yourself from certain groups. I've restricted my contacts list and I just ignore others...

I have not suffered linkedin spam except through joining the 'wrong' groups. In one case the group moderator started spamming the group, I politely pointed out that this spam was unwelcome as it was not in the least bit targeted. I was duly expelled from the group without any explanation.

No great loss - I'm a member of 48 others and the spam has stopped.

It is tempting to dump the account and start a new one.

LinkedIn isn't a social network, in design at least. People choose to use it that way of course.

Social networks, another way for you to get pestered by plebs you wouldn't normally give a moment's attention.

Not that I'm saying you should ditch them, the more people diverting the scumbag agents from pestering me via 'normal' channels the better. Keep up the good work.

I get "LinkedIn Updates" every week, which are useful; other than that I get very little in the way of "LinkedIn Connections" or "LinkedIn Communications".

Still, as has been suggested, using the options to restrict access to your contact details may help; you can still find out what others are up to, and let them know your status, via the weekly "Update" email. Well, I think so - I've not yet been forced to explore their contact option configuration in depth

Nope. Recruitment agents wanting me to recruit from them, process engineering specialists from Ireland, endless invitations from Bobs wanting to join my network, sales consultants offering to teach us how to sell, engineering parts sales and then there's the mentalist stuff from America that is so abstract I don't even understand what they are trying to sell.

I've just removed ClientCo's name from my profile; maybe that will help.

No, but they either use InMail or join groups so they can hassle the members.

I think some do a search for "keyword" and "sector" and then see who comes up. They then join a group that person is on, then they are in the same network and can spam them. That's definitely how the Bobs do it.
