Sort of thing I tend do in Excel with VBA. If you haven't sorted it I could post link to an Excel file rename thingy.

"Sequential renumbering is the only thing Explorer can do, and that's what you wanted -- view the files in Explorer, sort by "Date taken", select all, bulk rename. That should do it. (I don't think you want the DIR command loading shell extensions.) -Raymond"

Yes, select all files in the folder, rename the first one, all others will be renamed sequentially.

if you do a google you'll find dozens of utilities which will do this or similar...

....or, it would take about 15 mins to write your own...

I have a couple of hundred photos in a folder which I would like to rename sequentially starting from 001.
Is there a quick way I can do this within Windows without having to manually rename each photo individually?Tags: None
