I didn't get any answers about how to do this. The only thing I've came up without buying a portable monitor or duet is to use Remote Desktop Manager from Devolutions. If the mac reboots I can remote on and extend the display. Saves me getting behind my monitor and swapping cables.

My iPad keeps turing into an extension for my Macbook, for the love of god I wish I knew how to stop it happening, every so often I try to find which screen the mouse is on and its the fecking iPad!

I've asked a few places, honestly I avoid the hassle of asking question on stackoverflow.

Edit. I've asked on stackexchange. Lets see whats wrong with my question.

No, not automatic but I don’t have to switch cables.

So after your mac restarts does the ipad automatically connect as a monitor?

started a topic Mac Mini, ipad and sidecar question.

Mac Mini, ipad and sidecar question.

I can use my ipad as a monitor for my mac mini. The ipad works fine with sidecar as a monitor but if I reboot the mac I have to connect it to my main monitor and go through the process of setting up the ipad as a monitor. It's a pain because I have to switch out monitor cables.

Is there anyway to setup the ipad as the default monitor? So even after I reboot the login screen will appear on the ipad.

I know this is pretty niche but you never know
Working...
