Yep, sent it back and got one from another manufacturer but seems to be a slight rip-off but has more functionality for half the price, and worked out of the box:

I got a no name one from Amazon for £5. The camera works great but for some reason the microphone doesn't work with zoom. A £5 microphone fixed that and now I'm set. My work has settled into nobody using their cameras anyway except for the managers. That way you don't have to dress or clean up.

Blurred or virtual backgrounds hide the clutter

I picked up a Logitech Brio from the MS Store last summer - was a pain to get due to the fluctuating stock (and it's still out of stock most days). It has Windows Hello face recognition too which is quite useful and would recommend it.

Alternatively I also use my Sony A6500 camera as a webcam on a tripod when I want to sit away from my PC. Many modern DSLR and mirrorless cameras can be configured to be webcams now.

I haven't used a webcam on my desktop for 10+ years but I figured I'd get one now that we're doing so many more Zoom type calls.

There are hundreds of models out there so I wouldn't know where to start. I just need to make sure it has a built in mic and video quality is good. see they are typically around £20/£30 but I don't mind spending a lot more for a better product.

    Can anyone recommend one?
Does it need to be waterproof ?

I bought the same early in lockdown. Had to pay about 40% over the going rate at the time as there was such a shortage of webcams then.

Pretty decent bit of kit though.

    .

They're all much of a muchness. You get what you pay for.
More expensive ones will be 4K. Some will have microphones built in. Some will have optical zoom rather than digital.
If it's just one ugly mug sat in from of a PC then the £20 ones are fine.

I got one of these at teh beginning of lockdown as it was all there was in stock.

It's very good. Too good in fact.
