    Just tell her the truth.

    1. Your work in IT doesn't involve what websites look like so you cannot do one for her, and,
    2. You don't have a FB account

She will start whining and moaning but simply say to her hasn't she noticed at places she has worked at the person doing desktop support and the person doing the company website are two different people.

An FB page is a good shout. I would say make it a separate page not your personal profile but this is child's play to do.

PPS Do have a business FB page so visited for first time in years and found it had no cover. Uploaded an image of correct size and it appeared far too big, FB doesn't automatically resize??? Sure I'll figure out what the problem is (if I can be ar*ed) but can't imagine the sister could get it to work. Cue another phone call, can you just...?
If she really is totally useless with tech then Facebook is definitely the way to go, lets face it if the world and her granny Can work it, and if she can't her mates can and her kids can, it's all drag an drop and you got instant messaging rather than email.

Does it need to be a business page, unless she is selling you can just have normal account.

+1 for not getting involved. For years to come you will be blamed as the person who messed up her website, broke her washing machine and brexit.

    WSPS

Websites are overkill for most small businesses these days. It depends on your target market but most potential customers spend most of their time on Facebook anyway.

Have a look at Freeola.com and their associated domain registration services. They have a very basic site builder that even I can use...

What's the simplest website builder for a total (from a technical viewpoint) idiot? No way she could cope with Wordpress etc. It needs to be the simplest possible drag and drop. She wants to upload her own pretty pictures and add some text. It needs to allow email but there's no shopping carts, comments, logins or other complicated stuff.

PS Yet. Until she changes her mind in 2 days time.

for what you describe, the solution you say she couldn't handle is by far the best one.

Wordpress with the Disable Comments plug in and all the widgets removed. After that, log in, write text, add photo, publish, done.....
