So why the turntable, if not for audio quality, then for novelty?

So if Sonos ever shuts up shop they'll be a nice paper weight (Very unlikely though, but still a potential risk)

I never said I was an audiophile, I am part deaf so it never really matters to be fair, I am just hoping to extract knowledge from those who are

Why? A cheap crappy turntable with a built-in pre-amp will be pretty awful, less good than mp3 at high bit rate. Get a Linn Sondek and Naim pre-amp and you'll be good to go. Although then you'll want to digitise it and put it into your Sonos, so why bother. Seriously.

You either need a turntable with a preamp built in or you need to by a turntable and a separate preamp. This is regardless of which Sonos option you go for.

    Is this the same problem?

Edit: Isn't the difference between Connect:AMP and Connect (std) that you can plug speakers direct in to the former but the latter has to go through another device (stereo/TV). Therefore if they treat the inputs the same via the std red/white RCA cables then your turntable needs to be able to handle it. So it may require a preamp.

    Any audiophiles?

I want to get a vinyl turntable and hook it upto my SONOS system, reading up etc people say make sure I get a turntable with a preamp, would this become irreverent if I got the SONOS Connect:AMP rather than the base Connect?

Working...
