For a low calorie, post beer snack (look, it was give up food or ale), I used to buy jars of pickled onions to crunch when I got home. But the next day I was so flatulent I had to stop.
Those ones with chillis in were particularly bad.

Raw cabbage.
Raw cabbage is great because I can wait until the wife is watching some ghastly Jane Austen thing on TV and sit next to her crunching it. Then a few hours later I can annoy her again! An essential weapon in a husband's armoury.
