To go with it, the rest of the final episode of the New York Mob thing on Netflix. They lost

Interesting news this afternoon. There are various groupings at ClientGov and I can never work out whether any given one is a “portfolio” or a “profession”, but either way, I used to be in a particular one but the stuff I’m currently working on comes under a different one. (I’m not certain, but I think I may have been part of a third at some point.)

The Department has only been doing six month extensions lately, and mine is due early in August, so the process of getting that done has been kicked off. My contract manager is still the one from the grouping I used to be in, and she informed the current lot that actually, I’m only “on loan” to them and they may well want to take me back soon, as they have some project in the pipeline for which they think I’d be suitable!

This came as a surprise to the current lot, as whoever was managing such things at the time I was “loaned” to them is no longer there, and nobody else (including me) was aware of it

Nice to be in demand, I suppose

    Blue sky.

24.1 deg in here, 25.5 in the kitchen, 23 in the leanto, 19 outside.

1014 mBar, 29.94 in Hg, 760.6 Torr, 14.7 psi, (unchanged), 59% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 1st of April 2020 Brillo posted with BR14 and covbob each squeezing in a post.

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: churches & suchlike: sat here wondering why there are 3 Church in Wales churches in Neath, one Victorian, the other two much older, one is 12th century.

Sky Arts: Classic Movies: "Highlander (1986)": there can be only One. True dat, II was total crap.

Rewind TV: Old Country with Jack Hargreaves. I wonder if he kills anything in this one: yes, 3 trout. All about fly fishing, mayflies, fly fishing lines. It must be said that I was asleep for some of it: must be Trump disease. .

Look at Life: Dustmen in London and Scotland. Well there's a thing.

Tea: chicken in white sauce etc. Nice enough. Entertainment: PM.

Bab5 S2 E3 "Geometry of Shadows". Things never go well when the Shadows turn up.

It’s a grey and overcast start! Makes a change. It’s also pretty breezy, so the current temperature of 15°C “feels like” 11°; the expected high is a mere 25°. The barometers are steady at 1014/1022mB

Very breezy down in Sussex by the sea. But it wasn't exactly refreshing.

Clear blue sky for the most part, with just a band of high wispy stuff a long way to the south. It’s quite breezy too, which is helping to get cooler air circulating through the flat. Currently 23°C out there and it’s only getting up to 28°, so high but not as unbearable as it has been. The barometers are up a bit more at 1015/1022mB

    Morning.

    Sunday.

    Dry.

    Sunny.

    Blue sky.

24.1 deg in here, 26 in the kitchen, 24 in the leanto, 26 in the front bedroom, 21 out the back, 23 in the saltinghouse.

1014.6 mBar, 29.96 in Hg, 761 Torr, 14.72 psi, (up from 1013 last night), 61% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 1st of April 2020 Brillo popped in a lot whilst BR14 and covbob managed a post in edgeways.

Noticed this morning that there are tiny seeds on the bedroom window, I suspect they're ash, blown in on the breeze overnight.

Having consulted The Fount of All Knowledge (shortly before it renames itself as "Skynet"), I can confirm that a) they are seeds and b) they are certainly not ash tree seeds.

Walk (abbreviated, 2 miles) walked in the unbearable heat and nice breeze.

In an unexpected turnup for the book, I met JohnTheBike, late of this board, for the first time. Had a nice chat. Seems like an ok guy, worked on big iRon back in the day.

Had a stroll down the garden on my return & had a chat with her next door but one & her other half, covering all sorts of topics, including my new niece. And the wonders of vaccination against HPV. I managed not to comment on how it is likely to reduce the risks of throat cancer induced by muff diving. Twas a close run thing though.

On the walk the large stand of ragwort with associated caterpillars (2) has now been mown away, which is sad.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: anything other than DiTiDi, Tom me old pal, me old beauty.

    Book. New book.

Tea: baked beans and baked spud. Nice enough. Entertainment: R4 waffling on about something or other.

Sky Arts: The Directors: Billy Wilder. I seem to have watched a number of his films, the most recent probably being "Sunset Boulevard (1950)" with Gloria Swanson, William Holden, and Erich von Stroheim. They don't make 'em like that any more.

NHK: thing about Japanese holdouts in Indonesia after WWII. As in "wot did you do in the war grandpa?". Turns out this chap's grandfather had been the commander of a "special police" squad and after the surrender had stayed on to assist in the liberation of Indonesia from the Evil Dutch Colonists. . He was eventually expelled in the 1950s & spent the rest of his life in Japan, died in 2000. Particularly impressed with the sword grandad had used to execute people. .

Now wondering if the ep of "Taggart" that didn't show on Friday will show tonight. Not holding out much hope on that front, though the EPG declares that it's on at 23:00. Only time will tell.

Blaze: Danny Trejo's Buried History thing. Well that was moderately tedious. Hidden chamber under a house on the shores of Lake Huron: probably used to smuggle booze back in the days of prohibition. Various other stuff found in Mexico, south America, Edinburgh, etc. Meh.

DMAX+1: The strangest UFO stories of all time: Roswell yet again. <click>

    Taggart S14 E1 "Berserker".
