It’s sunny out for a change, with a fair number of clumps of cumuli hither and yon. Fairly mild again at 13°C, though 14° will be as good as it gets; the barometers are up at 1000/1008mB
Chilly in here at 17.2 deg, 16 in the kitchen, 14 in the leanto, 10 in the saltinghouse.
1007 mBar, 29.74 in Hg, 755.3 Torr, 14.6 psi, (up from 1000 last night), 66% RH (Lidl electric).
Meanwhile on the 28th of February 2020 much laundry was being done by me and NF, AndyGarbs, Covbob, eek, and opm popped in, and I went to town on the bus, still having a Bad Leg, like.
Washing frenzy ongoing.
Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.
This afternoon, I spent a load of time investigating the new forum software. It’s not hard for it to be better than the current stuff, but it’s really very nice. I need to do some work to make it proper CUK, though nowhere near as much as I thought might be needed
Mind you, one of the trickiest bits of the current version was getting the URLs the same as they had been - they were originally done with a plugin on vB4, but it was never updated for vB5, and I realised why when I did everything necessary to get them working! It turns out this new thing will also need a bit of work to keep the URLs the same, or it might be easier to end up with slightly different ones, such as “/forum/general” instead of “/general”, and redirect the old ones (which will also take a bit of work). I’ll see what I can do once I understand how it all works
Tried something new for lunch today in the shape of Heck® smoky pork sausage rashers. I had a couple in a bap (white) and it was nice enough; I might have three in there next time, as they’re large baps. I had them sauceless as I wanted to check out the flavour, but I reckon they’d benefit from whatever one’s preferred sauce (of the two kinds, which is all the sauces there are in this world) might be
So I’ll be back there on Monday at 11, which may be early enough that there’s a dose or two left
No mention was made of my eligibility or otherwise, but perhaps they only check that when they’re going to actually do something. Or maybe I look even more decrepit than I thought, and it never occurred to them that such a ruin of a man wouldn’t be eligible
Overcast but quite bright. There has been some rain. Currently 15 degrees and that's the high for the day. Rain set to continue off and on for the remainder of the day. Barometer down to 1004 mBar.
Sunrise 07:06; Sunset 16:24 GMT
Sunrise is getting late enough that I am less concerned about ensuring it doesn't disturb me in the mornings.
Busy day so far. Meetings started at 9am. Much to do.
Yet another grey day! Quite mild again too: 12°C now, 14° expected for the whole of the afternoon, though it’ll possibly (50%) rain a bit around and after lunchtime. The barometers are steady at 993/1001mB
The lunchtime rain is to be expected as that’s the only time I have to go out, for I have an appointment to get a Covid jab at the chemist’s! As far as I know I can still get this on the NHS; I think that’s what the GP practice nurse said when I was getting my flu jab, so that’s what I’ll tell them
Blue sky in parts, looking dark towards the south west.
Chilly in here at 17.7 deg, 17 in the kitchen, 14 in the leanto.
997.5 mBar, 29.456 in Hg, 748.2 Torr, 14.467 psi, (down from 999 last night), 66% RH (Lidl electric).

Walk (towpath, unabbreviated) walked in the grey gloom.
Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Noon o'clock news. Antisocial with some feckwit influencer waffling about something of zero innerest and of great danger to blood pressure <click>.
Some minor potching with the front garden gate. I'm sure I used to be able to weld stuff, but there's precious little sign of that these days.
Then it started raining which brought it all to an end before the effing and blinding got even louder than it was already. WTF is going wrong is a bit of a mystery. Especially to me.
Bit of The Directors: The Coen Brothers.
Tea: chilli con carne with rice. Nice enough.
Entertainment: PM. with 30p Lee <click even faster than usual>
The Nazi programme: Guadalcanal.
Taggart S2 E1,2,3 : "Knife Edge (1986)". Well that was fun. .
Tonight’s viewing was all three parts of The Diamond Heist on Netflix, about the guys who tried to steal those diamonds from the Millennium Dome, only to find the police had been on to them all along. This is excellent! They’ve got the guy who planned the job, a bunch of the police who kept them under surveillance for months before nicking them, even the guy from De Beers who was responsible for the security setup (and keeps complaining about how much it cost and how useless it turned out to be). Well worth your time if you have access
And then on to Terraplane, the fourth Dryco novel (though second to be written)
I really need to try the fish and chip shop at the bottom of my road. It's just reopened after a refurb, and had a name change. I guess that means new ownership.
This evening I watched some tat on YouTube and then the last two episodes of Unforgotten series 2. Although it was a very good ending, I also wanted a bit more closure. Always leave them wanting more!
I may be enjoying the work more, but I’m still glad when it stops for a few days
As soon as I’d finished, I headed out to Not as Big Sainsbury’s to get the shopping out of the way. I don’t usually go at that time because it’s the rush hour, and it turned out to be even worse than I expected because of temporary lights at some roadworks a mile or more down the main road. But I got there eventually and it wasn’t too busy, so I was able to get such things as I remembered to get quite quickly
Coming home, I made a detour to the VAT fraud chip shop, which was also not as busy as I thought it would be. So tea has been haddock and chips, and very nice it was too
Thoroughly grumpy after drive back from me toothpaste inspection took me an extra 20 mins due to yet more *** road works. Cheering meself up by listening to Fleetwood Mac CD. Nowt has ever compared to Fleetwood Mac or The Moody Blues.
Another old fart thing at local cafe tomorrow. Dunno. Tues was art thing, Wed local history thing, this morning Mahjongy thing. Think I'm old farted out.
And amidst work and meetings, I found time to put a bedding wash on - duvet cover, sheet, and pillowcases. This is one of the rather heavy duvet covers so I’ve now got that drying separately, while the rest waits damply in the laundry basket. I don’t know if the theory that it’s quicker to dry such a load in two halves is true, but I do it anyway
