Lunch was pâté on a toasted bap

I keep meaning to make a white loaf but haven't got around to it. I'll make one tomorrow, once the washer-dryer has (I hope) been dealt with

Another meeting-rich day today as it's sprint end/start time. Makes a change to be working on a project with a steady cadence again; it wasn't practical for the previous project to run that way, and the one before that was mostly just me so sprints didn't make sense

Hotel move done. Got a room upgrade. It's an old fashioned hotel, definitely could do with some updated features here and there.

Lunch was a couple of empanadas from a little shop around the corner.

Got soaked walking the dog earlier, then had a dental appointment (teeth are fine, gums are falling apart)
A very pleasant weekend of birthday celebrations for The Wife finished yesterday (her actual birthday)

Quiet morning. All packed to move hotels at checking out time. A 20 minute walk up the road.

Yesterday's dinner was at a Nikkei place. Very delicious but two of the dishes were too salty for my taste. Maybe some overuse of msg.

Meanwhile on the 14th of February 2020 Churchill, AndyGarbs and vetran popped in, NF watched ST:TMP (presumably not the even more extended extended version as if the original version wasn't long enough to send you to sleep) whereas I watch ST:The Wrath of Kahn, and WTFH had flown back from SepticLand at 780mph due to tail winds.

Walk (towpath) walked. "They" have cleared the fallen tree branches, so there's now 40 in the canal between Tonna & Neath.

Morning denizens

Sunny start, with some clouds hither and yon, and more arriving later. Going to be a bit cooler today: currently 13°C, it's only expected to reach 18° this afternoon, then cool back down and possibly (30%) rain a bit at teatime. The barometers are back up a bit at 991/999mB

I was just poking my head out of the bedroom window, taking in the view of the trees and things and seeing which members of the avian contingent were up and about, and a blue tit flew up from the small tree that spreads over the wall from the neighbouring garden, landed clinging to the wall a couple of feet to the side of the window and slightly above me, glanced quizzically at me for a second or two, then flew back down!

I watched the second part of the Scottish murder thing, as each episode is only thirty minutes

And later, another Rumpole story. Quite entertaining

Apparently there's a chance of seeing the aurora over the next couple of nights! Probably when I'm asleep because I have to be up in the morning, though. They should do it at the weekend

No sign of rain on walky again today but it must have chucked it down last night, glad I wore me wellies.

September 7th will be a full moon and a lunar eclipse so if you have unimpeded views eastwards and it's clear it might look rather cool (actually reddish).

Though I noticed last night that the moon is very low in the sky here this month, so even if the sky's clear, it may be obscured by the tall trees that adorn the neighbourhood

Tea has been a couple of chicken thighs, seasoned with herbs and spices and cooked in the air fryer, with chips. It's the first time I've tried doing chicken thighs in there and they turned out very nicely

And lunch, which I neglected to record because lunchtime was a bit pressured due to last-minute Teams meetings, was some cold bits of sweet and sour pork left over from Saturday

Tea has been accompanied by the first part of Limbs in the Loch: Catching a Killer on iPlayer, yet another murder documentary from BBC Scotland. Bet the Scottish Tourist Board love them for revealing that the tranquil glens and lochs are actually a hotbed of murderous violence
