I finished Random Acts of Senseless Violence. It's very good. Jack Womack has written four other books set in the same future at different times; this is the "first" one, though not the first to be written. I'll give the others a go, though a lot of people seem to think this is the best of the series

And then I started Ossian's Ride by Fred Hoyle. I've seen this described as science fiction written in the style of John Buchan, and from the first few chapters, that seems fair. The story belts along at a good pace though

Monday tomorrow. Oh well, at least I'm off for ten days after Thursday

The drive to and fro was uneventful. The Zipcar had petrol and I could have gotten away with not topping it up but I was feeling kind and had enough time to leave it full for the next person.

I have to into the office tomorrow for an all day workshop.

Very foggy start out. It seemed as if there was quite bright backlighting to it earlier, suggesting it would be sunny if the fog cleared, but that seems to have changed now so it's just quite grey. Not very warm either at 9°C, though it'll creep up to 15° later. The barometers are down a touch at 1021/1019mB

I had a very good and refreshing night's sleep, except that I seem to have managed to squash my right hand which is a bit sore as a result. It seems to be gradually improving though

Could just be arthritis triggered by the damp and foggy conditions, I suppose

Meanwhile on the 22nd of February 2020 NF discovered that The Chinese was about to have a new owner, followed by watching Mad Max Fury Road (still haven't watched that), BR14 popped in, and I watched Death Wish IV, and commented on some of the actors views on Michael Winner, Marina Sirtis and Alex Winter to be precise, she being the rape victim who was unimpressed with being kept hanging about half naked whilst he farted about with lighting the shot. .

Walk (towpath, unabbreviated) walked in the grey gloom. Noted that the tide was coming in so the river was flowing the wrong way.

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: well I'm not listening to di ti di me old pal me old beauty. .

Strimmed the parents' grave and the grandparents' graves. And a bit down the garden. And brought those floor tiles back down for disposal (someone covered one grave with plastic floor tiles and pebbles WTF?). And I met a nice grass snake in the cemetery.

Tea: beans on toast etc.

Entertainment: Look at Life: the British Sunday back when every fecking thing was shut and shopkeepers were prosecuted for refilling cigarette machines (I kid you not).

Sergeant Cork and the Slithey Tove. It's a retelling of "Great Expectations" with a murder thrown in for good measure.

Nothing more that I fancied on the idiot lantern so it was perusing people trespassing in abandoned houses on FB for a while.

Stone me, it's obvious from some that the previous occupants were lucky they didn't know what was in store for them. .

Felt like it had been a while since I'd had a Nando's for tea, so I did

Had to return to Boots twice in order to get my prescriptions dealt with as one of them was only partially filled and the remainder was waiting sign off by the pharmacist, who had just gone on lunch break when I turned up.

The clouds have dissipated and the resulting sunshine has made the day lovely and warm.

Just spent an enthralling few minutes dealing with my home contents insurance renewal

I'd been meaning to update it as it didn't cover the full value of either the bike or the Mac Mini, but I suspected I'd have to phone them up so I kept putting it off. But the renewal is due on Monday so I checked the details on the website, and it turned out I was able to add them without having to speak to anybody

I have been to the farmers' market. Hot rum sauce and green seasoning procured from the Carribbean sauce lady (her posting on Instagram that she was at this market today spurred me to get out of bed). Other purchases were bacon, sausages, English muffins and tinned seafood.

I need to do some laundry and then contemplate what else to do with my day. I have a prescription to pick up so that means going outside again. Shame they couldn't have texted readiness while I was at the market.

You are quite right, one shouldn't lower oneself to use public transport too frequently. It's good to be reminded of one's exhalted place in society but it is rather uncouth to make a habit of it.
