I splashed out on Taste the Difference ham this time, rather than the usual stuff which is what they used to sell on the deli counter before they closed that. Anyway, I couldn't really taste the difference

A friend and I met at Casa do Frango near Borough Market, and then had a mooch around said market before tottering onto other places. A very fine day out indeed.

Meanwhile on the 11th of January 2020 NF had scotch broth for lunch and a flat tyre on the car later, Brillo popped in, BR14 popped in, LM had a 6 hour lunch , and I watched "A shot in the dark" being the 2nd Pink Panther film & much funnier than the first.

Washing frenzy in progress: and, as soon as it's all pegged out, it starts clouding over. Ho hum.

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised and put away.

Second shingles jab duly booked: the ear wax removal: not so much.

Lunch: brunch.

The chap who moved out of number 50 6 months ago was down emptying the rest of the junk out of his garage. Had a nice chat & did the updation on the idle fecking Nephew & his posting whilst pissed thing. Apparently the new neighbours will arrive next week now the solicitors have managed to get their name right.

Shirts in off the line along with those of the cottons that had reached the required level of dryness (apart from one cotton twill shirt which had the sleeve tucked up inside itself) and duly iRoned (including the sleeve that was the very damp side of damp). All airing upstairs now.

Mug of coffee (Tesco, mediocre) duly consumed. I've turned into my Father (who'd be gutted that Blend 37 is no longer A Thing). .

Pollen count seems high judging by symptoms, however some of these may be due to the overwhelming pong of furniture polish that's pervading the place.

I suppose I ought to vac the rest of the front bedroom, assuming I can find the energy to shift some of the stuff that's in there.

Stuff shifted and vacced behind. Stuff put back in bookcases higgled-piggeldy.

Rest of washing in off the line & the two things requiring the iRoned received its attention. All airing upstairs, or will be once I've reassembled the front bedroom again.

Feck me, some of that stuff is heavy. I'd forgotten how heavy a Philips 1500 VCR is, and the 1502 and 1700 are about the same weight.

Tea: beans on toast. Forgot the cheese. With 2 boiled eggs. Nice enough but not as good without the cheese.

More of the RAF programme watched this evening, series 2. Followed by The Curse of Oak Island.

In a development that will come as a shock no-one, the oscillator they're using to put down down a 7 ft caisson started sinking into the ground. Turns out that all those years of drilling umpteen holes has left the ground somewhat unstable.

I am hoping over the course of the next couple of weeks that the pound weakens against the dollar just in time for when my next invoice gets paid. Currently have an unrealised loss of about 3% of the invoice value. All it needs is for Trump to say something sensible for a change.

Lunch has been the last of the cold chipolatas stuffed into a white bap

Meanwhile, HMRC has decided in its infinite wisdom that our Dad owes them around £290 in tax

This has led to a long email chain between my brother, my sister, and myself as we try to make sense of their calculations. It's not exactly going to break the bank but as executors, my brother and I have a legal responsibility to ensure His Majesty's servants aren't bilking the estate. The whole thing is complicated by the figure at question being something to do with the Married Couple's Allowance, which is only available to couples in which one or both were born before 1935. Working out how much it should be depends on various factors including calculations based solely on the husband's income, that being the way they did things back in the day

Being applicable only to an ever-shrinking and, by now, very small proportion of the population means it's sufficiently obscure and similar in name to the Marriage Allowance that Googling tends to throw up a lot of irrelevant results. So my brother has brought his lifetime of legal expertise to bear and composed a letter which takes several paragraphs to basically say "Umm… this bit? What's it mean, and are you sure it's right? Ta."

Overcast and dull. Damp from much overnight rain that kept me awake from about 4.30 am onwards. Currently 9 degrees ('feels like' 6) with a high of 13 expected. More rain possible off and on throughout the day. Barometer down to 1009 mBar.

Took ages to get to sleep, thanks to much coughing. Then awake again thanks to much rain. I have logged on to work but may not get much done and am more likely to take at least another half day off.

Only one coughing fit during the night, so I'm feeling well rested this morning. Heavy rain through the night has given way to sunshine.
The great tit has stopped laying at 6 eggs and seems to be thinking about incubating them.
