On arrival at Mum's my brother was sat on a chair just inside the garage having a fag and looking glum. He then asked me to park on the road rather than the drive because he needed to get his car out and test whether he'd fixed it or made the problem worse.
I jumped in for the ride as I've not been in his Porsche since he bought it last year. After a hurtle down the local dual carriageway, he pronounced himself very pleased with the several weeks of troubleshooting, parts replacing, more troubleshooting, more parts replacing.
The drive home was uneventful.

Dolly Parton and other country music singers tribute thing with ll3 was ok last night. We disagreed over whether her *** were genuine. I was proved right when the same lady performed as Patsy Kline.
Volunteer thing at local nature reserve this morning.

Morning all
Cloudy but bright and dry. Currently 9 degrees with a high of 13 expected. Cloud set to increase with a low chance of rain. Barometer at 1016 mBar.
Sunrise 07:09; Sunset 16:20 GMT
Off to see Mum today. My brother is going to be away for a week in Czech from the middle of next week, so we need to agree a plan for how she will feed herself. Considering she will eat every biscuit in the house in a single day, such planning is going to be difficult. We also need to discuss the C-word and various family arrangements.

Morning denizens
Quite a bright start, though occasionally it seems to get a little cloudier and we may soon lose the sunny spells altogether. Apparently it’s a bit breezy too. The present 10°C therefore “feels like” 7°; the expected high is 13°. The barometers are up a touch at 1002/1010mB

Morning
Sunday.
Damply dry.
Grey.
Sunless.
Chilly in here at 16.7 deg, 16 in the kitchen, 13.5 in the leanto.
1007.5 mBar, 29.75 in Hg, 755.69 Torr, 14.61 psi, (down from 1010 last night), 67% RH (Lidl electric).
Meanwhile on the 28th of February 2020 BR14, covbob, scruff, and Brillo popped in, WTFH wanted his garden drained, it was wet everywhere, NF was doing the laundry, and I had a very slow shopping trip, staggering around with a bad leg.
Lunch: brunch.Last edited by DoctorStrangelove; Today, 12:19.

I worked out who the killer was in 9 bodies during episode 5, watched the last episode last night and enjoyed the twists and turns at the end.

Tea was brought to me from the Chinese restaurant past the park
It was fine, but confirmed the opinion I’d previously formed that the nearby takeaway is better

The blood donation was quick. Not very busy in there today. Being a woman, I am only allowed to donate every four months. Men are allowed to donate every three.
Westfield has Christmas decorations up and was playing Christmas themed tunes.
New shoes collected from Next without incident. Bus journey home uneventful.
Popped into one of the many grocery shops on the main road close to home. They've had a bit of a spruce up and reorganisation. Not sure I approve.
As HWMBO arrives on Monday to stay for nearly three weeks, I have been catching up on medical themed programmes. He's not a fan of that genre of TV. Lots of Trauma Room One so far; I got up to date with Ambulance yesterday.
Earlier this evening, there was much shouting outside and the sound of people running followed by "stop, police!” then the flashing lights of a cop car. Noteworthy because this isn't a common occurrence despite being rated a deprived area.

I see I neglected to record last night’s major motion picture presentations, so for the record: the premiere was The Prosecutor (2024) in which a Hong Kong police officer changes career to become a prosecutor with the Ministry of Justice. But when he realises that a young man convicted of drug offences was set up as a patsy for a criminal organisation, he makes it his mission to take them and their corrupt lawyers down. Lots of violence is, of course, involved. It’s enjoyable stuff, though any lawyers watching would be thoroughly enraged by its depiction of court procedures
And then a rewatch of Con Air (1997) which is one of those films that just keeps on going harder, with scenes that would have been regarded as a fitting climax to a lesser movie repeatedly treated as a mere step along the way to something even more climactic

The clouds have mostly gone and it's a lovely sunny day out there now.
