Tonight's viewing was a new episode of Traffic Cops. This was tacked on to a series that was last updated a while ago, I think, so it may have been one of those that had to wait for some legal stuff to finish before it could be broadcast

And then I read most of the rest of The Founders, in which a Musk-free (well, he was still the biggest shareholder) PayPal had a successful IPO, was bought by eBay, and eventually grew so big that it was spun off as a separate business again

Having a four-day week means I don't have a hump day. I suppose tonight could be called hump night, but people might get the wrong impression. Anyway, for me, half the week is done!

Ended up doing some work today, though interspersed with various breaks while other people had meetings. It's a bit quieter on this project than it was on the one where I was sole developer, so I'm having to get used to the idea of having a pretty stress-free working day

Meanwhile on the 23rd of November 2019 Twitter reckoned that NF's interest was in Amber Rudd, and a little later he was "In the Chinese" , whereas I was cooking chilli con carne and watching yet more BTVS (the singing one & the one where they forget who they are), whereas LM had to order a soundbar due to inadvertently ordering a telebox that had connectors of a new & different kind, which is always irritating.

Freecell score in the ongoing drizzle: 93%, running average: 79%.

Lunch: there was.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the sunshine, though there were dark clouds across the valley on my way back.

Now the sun has risen, it's revealed a largely clear blue sky with a few golden fingers of cloud. Though it's 9°C it "feels like" 4°, though it will rise to 15° later - which will "feel like" 13° - along with increased cloud cover. The barometers are up at 1012/1020mB

And then I read a lot more of The Founders, in which Musk has been booted out while he was on his honeymoon

Interestingly, despite the lack of his business acumen and technological prowess to guide them, the remaining team have done extremely well: developing fraud detection techniques much more sophisticated than any used by old-school financial institutions, including the first use of CAPTCHA, and successfully seeing off eBay's attempts to take back control of payments with their now-forgotten BillPoint service

Having had a rather large lunch, I wanted something lighter for tea. So I dug my Matsudai classic tonkotsu ramen kit out of the freezer, and it was very nice indeed

I've still got one kit left, though I can't remember which variant it is. But I'll definitely get more from them once that's gone

It's been a dull and overcast day but thankfully dry. It's currently 13 degrees down from today's high of 14. Barometer up from the past few days to 1022 mBar.

I was in the office today to meet with the person who wanted me to help on this extra project. Despite us sitting next to each other, the download of information didn't happen until 3pm. All still billable though.

Not at all busy today, as I'm still working with a couple of people from another team and one is off while the other has lots of meetings

I spent some time (not much) confirming an idea I had this morning, and it will work as I expected, thereby removing the need for what was anticipated to be a separate chunk of work. And while investigating that, I happened to notice something else in a Stack Exchange answer which will save a few seconds, which is good as the end users have been grumbling about performance. So I have a couple of ideas to bring to the table tomorrow, should we back at full strength then

I just took advantage of the lack of busyness to pop round to the Post Office and post off copies of Commando to my siblings. And the pharmacy is only two or three shops along from there so I was able to pop in and get the monthly parcel of prescription drugs

This also counted as today's walk, so: green ring closed
