    Morning all (just)

Overcast but dry. A bit of a breeze about. Currently 19 degrees ('feels like' 24) with a high of 25 expected. Barometer up to 1027 mBar.

    Sunrise 05:49; Sunset 20:21 BST

I have been up the road to the farmers' market where I bought bread, eggs and a sticky bun. It's the first day in a while where I'm on my own. It's bliss!

Grey start out and it's going to be a bit less warm today, with a cool easterly breeze helping. It's 19°C now and only getting as high as 24° for a couple of hours this afternoon, when it'll also brighten up. The barometers are up a bit more at 1017/1025mB

This evening, I watched the first hour of Netflix's documentary about the OceanGate Titan thing. It's very emphatic about the key point that the rich guy responsible was a real dick

And then I finished reading Project Hail Mary, which was excellent. There's a film of it coming out next year starring Ryan Gosling, which should be good if it sticks closely to the book

I remembered to remake the bed earlier too

    Goodnight all

More and bigger clouds here too, though they seem to be politely keeping out of the Sun's way for the most part

I've just been into the bedroom and stripped the bed and left it to air. It's hot in there, so I'll wait until it's cooled down this evening before remaking it

A few clouds have appeared. Not enough to cause concern but sufficient to keep things interesting.

It's been quite a pleasant temperature in my little office, which doesn't get direct sunlight. A gentle breeze has wafted in the window every now and then.

I'll be clocking off in about 45 minutes to head on over to the Barbican for a performance of some sort.

    Morning (just about).

    Friday (checks clock).

    Dry.

    Sunny.

    Clear blue sky.

Warmish side of cool in here at 22.1 deg, 23.5 in the kitchen, 21.5 in the leanto.

1019 mBar, 30.09 in Hg, 764.3 Torr, 14.779 psi, (up from 1016 last night), 73% RH (Lidl electric).

Meanwhile on the 8th of February 2020 WTFH was outside 4 pints of Guinness ready for the Calcutta Cup, BR14 popped in later, Brillo popped in, I listed a collection of dead stuff from the walk earlier plus some very live red kites & buzzards, NF popped in, and I had spag bol for tea.

Shopping trip to Morrisons done dusted washed dried sanitised & put away.

Walk (tow path) walked, abbreviated to account for the earlier trip to Morrisons. Found what looks like a brand new bike heaved into the undergrowth. I'd have taken it to the police station if I could have got across the fence.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: drugs of hallucination.

Freecell score in the unbearable heat of the day: 83%, running average: 83%. Had to stop for coffee halfway because it was going so badly.

    Tea: chilli con carne etc.

Entertainment: PM <click every time the Orange Micropenised Moron came on>

Freecell score: 100%, running average: 83%.

Peleliu: WWII best preserved battlefield (2024).

    Inside Japan's War (4 or 4).

Sunny out today, with a few little white fluffy bits hanging around here and there. Going to be a bit warmer too, though not as bad as earlier in the week; already at 24°C, and aiming for 27°. The barometers have jumped up to 1014/1022mB

I received an email from Miele this morning advising me that the delivery date for the washer-dryer has now been changed back to the date I originally selected, so they must have found it a place on a ferry. In fact, there were two emails; the first advised me of that change from the 26th to the 22nd, and the second (sent immediately after) advised me of another change from the 22nd to the 22nd. So it'll probably be the 22nd

    Tired this morning.

HWMBO goes home today, leaving in about half an hour. I'll next see him in Madrid (again) at the end of the month.

    Laundry in the WM.

Looking ahead to next week's forecast, only one day has a grey cloud and a rain drop and that's on the day of my cousin's wedding. Sort of matches my general feelings towards going to the event.

    Short walk (6.5k steps)

    TFIF, etc.
Currently a bit misty/low cloud, but that appears to be burning off.

Tonight's major motion picture premiere was one of those films that it might be assumed I'd seen years ago, yet somehow I never had: Hackers (1995). I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it very much at the time given its laughable depiction of young people engaged in unlikely activities over dialup. But now it's old enough that one can find quite a lot of entertainment in how ludicrous it all is. A laptop is regarded as awesome because it has a "28.8bps modem" - by my reckoning that's less than three bytes per second, but I daresay they missed out the "K". And it's quite amusing that it's so focused on phreaking without any distinction between that and hacking (or cracking, strictly speaking by the standards of the day), and the Internet is mentioned precisely once, as a kind of thing that you'd only make use of under very exceptional circumstances. I reckon it was all very silly then, and it's all very silly now

And after, a rewatch of Bridge of Spies (2015) which is excellent

    Goodnight all

No mahjongy thing this morning due to others' problems so bit of a nowt day. Spent morning raising slabs on patio near door to stop water pooling up when (if ever) it rains, and walk later. Damned tired again! Grumble!
