The wall is finished, and very good it looks too. Someone will be back next week to paint it.
Now the heavens have opened so that was a timely exit. Sadly I need to get to the post office to post a birthday card so I hope it eases up before collection time.

Lunch: a pork pie
That's the second time this week, though at least this one was within its Use By date, though only by one day. Nice as they are, I think that's probably enough pork pies for a while
Consideration of the contents of the fridge and freezer has led me to conclude that I needn't bother going shopping this week!

Morning.
Thursday.
Wet. Intermittently torrential.
Wanly sunny.
Flock of swallows/swifts/martins busily swooping about the place on their way back to that Africa.
Grey.
Cooler in here at 18.4 deg, 19 in the kitchen, 17 in the leanto.
996 mBar, 29.4 in Hg, 747 Torr, 14.44 psi, (up from 995 last night), 73% RH (Lidl electric), 80% GDR hair.
Meanwhile on the 15th of February 2020 Storm Dennis was busy storming, being wot WTFH had flown over the previous day on his way back, BR14 popped in, NF still couldn't remember the film and LM didn't know wot it was either, I went shopping & got wet & cancelled the walk for that day.
Freecell score: 88%, running average: 84%. Started badly: lost 1st game.
Torrential rain.
Sun.
More torrential rain.
Sun.
Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: my tinnitus. Y&Y waffling on about fraud. <click>.
Goodbye to the forsythia: blown down in the gale & the roots were rotten. It'll meet its end in the next bonfire.
Brief walk walked, thus inducing a deluge.
Sunny again now.
I see yesterday's 13 center used a bolt action "high powered" rifle rather than an AR15.. Seems to have neglected some of the finer points according to those who know.

Morning all
Put a high-vis on over my jacket this morning before the walk, is it was dull out. Rained for part of it, but not too bad.

Blue sky with lumps of fluff wafting by. Currently 13 degrees with a high of 18 expected. Could be some rain mid afternoon. Barometer down to 1002 mBar.
Sunrise 06:30; Sunset 19:25 BST
Builders turned up early this morning, I wasn't dressed! Sounds like the render on the wall stayed put overnight.
Time for coffee.

Morning denizens
It's a quite sunny start out, though there's smallish bits of cloud clustering hither and yon - largely altocumulus, I think? It's 12°C but "feels like" 7° because it's still quite breezy; the expected high is 16° this afternoon, though that may bring rain with it, or at least coincide with rain. The barometers are down a little more at 988/996mB

More Rumpole read. They're a pleasant enough way to pass the time
On the subject of crime, I saw the video (the one from just in front of the stage, not the one from further back) of that pro-gun chap getting an extremely brief opportunity to reconsider his views before he was completely exsanguinated. Not a pretty sight, and it was perfectly obvious he must have been dead in seconds, no matter how long it took for that fact to be officially confirmed. I suppose those who live by the Second Amendment must be prepared to die by the Second Amendment
Thursday tomorrow!
Goodnight all

Tea has been beef and ale stew, with a crust of the excellent white loaf for dunking
This was accompanied by the second part of Tsunami 2004: The Day the Wave Hit on 4
It rained this afternoon, then brightened up, then it went gloomy again and seems to be raining some more
Meanwhile, the squirrels are back on their thing of getting conkers from the tree out the back, bringing them along the garden wall, over the roof of some garages, round the end of the adjacent block, across the drive, and out in front of our block where they finally eat them, leaving the remains of the spiky cases scattered around. I have no idea why they do this rather than just eating them where they get them

Despite some unreasonable rain, the builders finished the blockwork and got the first layer of render on top, all while working under a makeshift tarpaulin tent. It's all covered up to protect it overnight and hopefully it'll dry enough for the whatever comes next.
Catching up on Only Connect.

Lunch: a Pukka sausage roll
There's been some rain this morning but it's brightened up now, albeit still with lots of big white fluffy things drifting about; it's quite windy too. More rain's expected to pass over us this afternoon; it was originally scheduled for this evening, but the wind must have blown it here sooner

Morning.
Wednesday.
Wet. Persistently wet.
Was misty. Can see across the valley now, boyo.
Grey.
Sunless. Of course it is: it's Fair Week.
Cooler in here at 18.7 deg, 19 in the kitchen, 17.5 in the leanto.
995 mBar, 29.38 in Hg, 746.3 Torr, 14.43 psi, (down from 1001 last night), 73% RH (Lidl electric).
Seemed a reasonable night's sleep: woke about 07:50 ish with the good Rabbi waffling on about something in thought for the day. I rather miss Lionel Blue.
Meanwhile on the 14th of February 2020 Brillo popped in, BR14 had "fun" in the pub with some obnoxious tories, and there was much discussion of half remembered films, including "Lucy" (not she who must not be mentioned), which NF watched, and STIII and STIV which I watched, whereas WTFH "hit the wall" and went to bed.
Freecell score in the ongoing drizzle: 100%, running average: 84%.
Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: Y&Y waffling on about stuff, one of said stuffs was some recruitment scam or other that ends up with the scammers taking out loans that you know nothing about until the bill arrives. Ah, even worse: it's a Universal Credit loan. With the usual lack of joined up anything that might be expected of the government.
Just been potching with a Cambridge Instruments Electrodynamic Ammeter that I liberated from Ye Olde Sloughe of Desponde 10 or more years ago.
It worked. Lovely thing: mahogany case with big mirror scale meter. It agreed with my AVO8 on AC current.
Here's what it looks like:
https://www.richardsradios.co.uk/Cam...20ammeter.html
except mine is 0.5A and 1A, not 2A and 20A.
Oh dear, how sad, never mind: The Reichsleiter is no longer the richest man in the world, having been overtaken by Ellison..
Short walk earlier since I couldn't stand staying in here any longer: it immediately pissed down.
Tea: Tesco battered cod etc.
Entertainment: PM.
Leopard spotted rocks on Mars. Oooer, Mrs. And that weird comet thing. Signs & portents in the heavens.
Doomed etc.
Sun's out & it's pissing down.
Entertainment: that ginger woman waffling on about vacuum cleaners. Much better than the passport one last week.
Maigret rents a room. The very episode from last Saturday "Maigret and the cactus".
Possibly the end of "Memory" with that Liam Neeson chap.Last edited by DoctorStrangelove; Yesterday, 20:31.
