Quite a sunny day with some clouds here and there. It seems it’ll probably get cloudier though, and the wind will get up; there’s also a chance of showers around teatime. It’s 12°C (“feels like” 6°) and the expected high is 15°. The barometers are up a smidgeon at 1005/1013mB

Meanwhile, at the block opposite, a removals van has been backed up close to one of the doors. This, it would appear, heralds the departure of the dogs and their ancillary staff. A sad day; it was always nice to see them trotting to and from the Dogmobiles with whichever of their humans they’d pressed into service that day

I finished watching the Artemis programme, then continued reading Here, There and Everywhere in which everybody has a terrible time during the recording of the White Album, leading to our narrator walking out on them one evening because he’s had enough of their tulip, and not working with them again until they hired him away to Apple to work on Abbey Road

In other news, I had a BP of 121/78 this morning which is so good, I suspect our Omron is acting up - or maybe the new batteries in it have helped.

I last measured my BP just over a year ago when it was 102/68.

HMWBO made a margarita for my post-work beverage.

Work itself was fine. I mentioned to the 'scrum master'/'delivery lead' that the sharepoint folder containing the work the various BAs do could be better organised and received what can only be described as AI generated word salad blathering on about 'a new information architecture policy' and a revised 'nomenclature' and sticking with the 'emergent conventions' for the time being.

That’s work done - now I have ten days off!

Though I don’t quite yet, as I promised to leave a decent writeup for the other dev (who’s off this week) of the stuff I’ve discovered about the obscure data issue we’ve been battling, and the various tools I’ve created to help track it down. This would have been done, but stuff that worked locally wasn’t working when deployed, and has been driving me up the wall for half the afternoon - until I realised I’d forgotten to push the most important changes to said tools

Anyway, that should all work now, and I’ll have full details of the specific 25 rows of data (out of around 21,000) that are causing the problem. The people we do this for can then have a look at them and work out what they want to do about it; it’s very likely to be a simple case of random user errors that have accumulated over the past year. With that done, it’ll only take about twenty minutes to write it up, so I’ll probably get around to it while dinner’s in the oven or maybe tomorrow - it just has to be ready for the other dev on Monday morning

Lunch was a ham bap, being the Sainsbury’s TTD cranberry and orange glazed ham I tried a few weeks ago. Very nice

Yesterday I delivered my first bit of work for Gig3. they still haven't got their act together about the rest of what I'm supposed to be doing.

I just requisitioned the unused 60m of 2.5 T&E from next door that my dear nephew was "going to do something about sometime" and used that along the garden wall in conduit. Not to any known code but it's connected to a 13A plug which gets away from all that nonsense.

Walk (unabbreviated, towpath) walked in wan sunshine. Despite removing a layer from yesterday's venture, overheating began at two miles.

Lunch: brunch. Entertainment: noon o'clock news.

Today's cleaning of the springs was the cooker area in the leanto.

Black mould sprayed, everything washed down, cooking utensils removed from shelves, shelves removed, cooker moved out & cleaned behind it, floor washed, ceiling sprayed too, which is a bit of an art, cooker hood cleaned.

Judging by the inneresting colours my gardening shirt has gone, it's just as well I decided to wear it instead of a halfway decent shirt.

And just as well I wore goggles too.

Today's enterprise was performed with the cooker hood in full blast more & a window open to give a cross draught. Bit less fumey like that.

There are spiders' webs in the ovens because they've not been used in years. Cleaned under the hob.

Everything will go back shortly after the shelves are washed, followed by the cooking utensils, of which there are far too many (there's even more in the garage ).

All back together more or less as it was, sans the dust & other crap.

Tea: beans on toast etc. Nice enough. Entertainment: The science thing. PM. <Tory bastard comes on: click>.

True Crime: Almost perfect murders: one from that Leicester 1999 Xmas Day bullet throught the back of the head. Dunno why this is so much less unpleasant than last week's hammer murder. Probably because it was a good deal more efficient, though the murder that caused it was a good deal more messy.

cloud in the east prevented me seeing sunrise, but it was clear to the west. A very pleasant walk was had, and the cloud has burned off. In other news, I had a BP of 121/78 this morning which is so good, I suspect our Omron is acting up - or maybe the new batteries in it have helped.
In other other news, the new shed is not going to be powered by an Anker Solix C1000, but by an EcoFlow Delta 3 (on offer in Costco for £299+VAT). With a single panel on the roof, that should be enough for 90% of the electric down there, and I can run an extension lead if I ever need more. A lot cheaper than digging a trench and running 60m of armoured cable down.

Half an hour ago, I would have said the sun was starting to break through the clouds. But having showered, I find that it was actually stopping, for it’s now very gloomy out there with continuous light drizzle. This is expected to stop soon though, and it should brighten up a bit then revert to cloudy by lunchtime. It’s mild enough, being 10°C (“feels like” 8°) with an expected high of 15°; the barometers are up a little at 1004/1012mB

The storm passed, and it brightened up again - the sky’s mostly clear now

Tea was homemade sweet & sour pork with fried rice. Turned out well; I won’t be opening a takeaway any time soon on the strength of it, but I enjoyed it

To go with this, the final 20 minutes or so of the 24 Hours in Police Custody I started watching yesterday. Have to wait until next week for the second episode
