700kgs of oak sleepers moved, cut, drilled, etc, and then held together with what I am told are “tree nails”, i.e. long pieces of dowel hammered into them to keep them in place.
I am currently absolutely William Buggered and up to my eyes in pain killers.

Anyway, TFBSZ, back to sitting at my desk tomorrow, recovering.

I did a bit of mucking around with SpriteKit this afternoon which led to me missing the US borders programme, though I caught a bit of the Australian one later. And this evening, Trauma Room 1 followed by a couple of new episode of 24 Hours in A&E

And, of course, keeping an eye on Twitter to see what the Americans are making of the latest developments in their rebellious little colony

In domestic appliance news, I noticed this evening that the alarm light was no longer blinking on the freezer from the old place. I wondered if the LED had finally burnt out or something. There's nothing much in there apart from various bits of bread now, as I'm gradually working out how to adjust my lifestyle to the limited capacity of the resident fridge-freezer. So I opened it up and had a look at the thermometer I keep in there - and it was at -21°C!

So it appears to have started working again, perhaps reminded of its duties by the warm weather. Good news if it remains stable, but I'll wait and see how it goes for a week or three before I risk stocking up…

Still cloudy but bright, dry and warm. Currently 22 degrees with a high of 23 expected. Barometer up a snifter to 1000 mBar.

After a lie in, this morning was spent figuring out what was causing some ants to visit my kitchen, and clearing it up.

Not visiting Mum as I want to watch the final stage of the Tour de France in its entirety, rather than just the evening highlights.

Meanwhile on the 24th of October 2019 LM found it was curry day in the canteen and to celebrate she had soup, later she ventured to Greenford with HWMBO, NF had shredded chicken breast for lunch, after which he cleaned the deep fat fryer and did the laundry, whereas I pruned the apple tree & failed to kill it, following this with chilli con carne for tea & BTVS "The Wish" as entertainment.

Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the wan sunshine & cool breeze which reduced the sweating considerably.

Scalded finger due to stupidity: the frozen peas helped a lot.

Lunch: baked spud etc.

Entertainment: Mark Steele's in town: Stoke.

Sunny start, expected to become cloudier, then go back to sunny this evening. The temperatures are more civilised, being 15°C with an expected high of 20°, while the barometers are up a little at 999/1007mB

Overcast but dry day, after a walk it will be time to start constructing the wall. I believe the unwritten rules are no noisy power tools before midday on a Sunday, but I have some digging and other prep to do, along with moving the sleepers.

The rain didn't happen as much as in other places though there was a shower or two during the evening, and another one is currently ongoing

Our dad's Premium Bonds won £100 last month. He had it set up so they just get used for more bonds

Today's extensive selection of wildlife shows were almost all about sharks for some reason. Such programmes always remind me of the Pathetic Sharks in Viz, and I find it hard to take them seriously after that

There was some unscheduled rain on arrival into Richmond but, as I was on the bus, it didn't affect me.

Lunch and the catch up were very nice, followed by a couple of drinks before heading home.
