It appears that having 3 sheds for indoor wood is a bit excessive, particularly when you point out that the two big piles are outdoor wood and will be stored separately.
New log store is now about 1/4 full and I think we’ve got 10+ years of outdoor wood and at least 4 years of indoor, excluding the pile of indoor to be split/sawn and the pile of tulip wood (not a swear word) from the tulip tree (not a swear word) at the other house.
If we had a log-fired electricity generator, we could go off-grid.
anyway, TFBSZ.

For tea, a cold chicken leg with a bag of plain crisps
Accompanied by S1E1 of Cheers because I've never seen all of them and now seems as good a time as any to start
Earlier, lots of Monkey Life this morning
And this afternoon, I eschewed the endlessly repeated Colonial borders and roads policing in favour of a four part documentary on All4: Merseyside Detectives, a fly-on-the-wall thing about the investigations into the unrelated 2022 murders of Ashley Dale and nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel
I think I'll watch a film tonight, but I haven't decided what yet

Lunch: sausages and bacon in buttered white toast
Turned gloomy out again, and looks very breezy too

Afternoon all
Sunny, dry. Lots of lumps of cloud moving at pace, although the wind speeds at ground level are much gentler. Currently 20 degrees and that's the high for the day. Barometer notably up to 1015 mBar.
Not visiting Mum today so I called her instead.
Making some bread. I watched a video featuring Richard Bertinet yesterday to help me fathom how to work with high hydration dough that isn't amenable to the traditional kneading techniques. Let's see how much I remembered when today's loaf comes out the oven.

Eventually I took it in, vaguely planning to get a new chain, but that never happened. It was still in the back yard when I moved out

Lots of Monkey Life earlier, followed as usual by more wildlife stuff, in which they've now managed to shake the shark obsession almost completely
And this evening, I finally found time to read some more of To Catch a Spy in which Peter Wright has now managed to convince himself that his boss is, like almost everybody else (in his view), a Russian spy
Early night now, as Monkey Life is on the early shift again tomorrow
Goodnight all

It finally brightened up and is quite a nice evening. I took advantage of this to take a walk round to the kebab shop for tea

There must be some form of sporting event on the telly as the lads in the flat upstairs are getting somewhat agitated

The clouds parted and there was about 2 hours of lovely sunshine. Then it came over all dark and ominous. The heavens opened with a mild rumble of thunder.
I was going to pop to the shop but I shan't bother now.

Afternoon all
Overcast, dull, wet. A light rain has fallen pretty much all day. Currently 16 degrees and the high was 18. The rain is supposed to stop and the sun come out early evening. Barometer down to 1002 mBar.
Weather apps reckons it'll be a sunny and warm bank holiday.
This morning I popped over the road to the farmers' market and bought more pullet eggs. They don't take back the trays for reuse. So much for sustainability.
This afternoon I went through all the skills assessments on the national careers service website. Apparently I'm well suited to a life in the legal profession because I can read even though I said I didn't like persuading people to my point of view. Because I got one question wrong on the numeracy test they don't recommend I do any work with data. I did very well on the mechanical, visual spatial tests but less well on abstract image stuff.
