I was awoken by the sound of very heavy rain a couple of times in the night. But it’s sunny and Simpsonesque at the moment; windy though, and going to be quite changeable. It’s 15°C and expected to reach 20°, albeit briefly, with the barometers steady at 996/1004mB

I see I neglected to sign out last night, which I blame on tiredness. So for the record, other viewing during the day had been wildlife stuff, including a film in which David Attenborough told the life story of Jumbo, the elephant who now lends his name to so many things that are bigger than other things. And I had expected to finish To Each This World but I’d been led astray: it’s printed on quite thin, though good quality, paper, and the pages are relatively large. So the upshot is that after last night’s reading, I still have around a hundred pages to go which is probably equivalent to, say, a hundred-and-twenty pages in a regular-size paperback
